1958 Triple European Champion
Black was named the 1958 BBC Sports Personality of the Year at age 17 after winning the 400 meter freestyle, 1500 meter freestyle and 200 meter butterfly at the European Championships. That same year the Scotsman also won the 200 yard butterfly at the Commonwealth Games and captured two silver medals. At the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Black finished fourth in the 400 meter freestyle and was on the fourth place British 4x200 meter freestyle relay and the seventh place 4x100 meter medley relay.SUPERSTARS RECORD
