Member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame

An offensive lineman, Upshaw played his entire career for the Oakland Raiders from 1967 to 1981. He appeared in six consecutive Pro Bowls (1972-'77) and was a member of the Raiders teams which won Super Bowls XI and XL. Upshaw was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987 and later served as the executive director of the N.F.L. Players' Association. He died of pancreatic cancer at age 63.
