Four-Time Super Bowl Champion
Bleier was a member of all four Steeler Super Bowl teams in the 1970's. Bleier was a sixteenth round pick out of Notre Dame in 1968 and played the 1968 season with the Steelers before going to serve in Vietnam. Injured in Vietnam when shrapnel went into his right leg, Bleier fought back and played for the Steelers from 1971 to '80 and in 1976 joined Franco Harris as the second pair of running backs to gain over 1,000 yards rushing in the same season. His autobiography, "Fighting Back" was made into an ABC-TV movie in 1980 starring Robert Urich.
