1976 Olympic Three Meter Springboard Champion.
Chandler won the AAU national indoor 1-meter springboard event in 1975 and was the springboard gold medalist at the Pan-American Games that year. She was the national indoor 3-meter champion in 1976. At the 1976 Olympics, Chandler was the surprise gold medal winner in the springboard, taking the lead on the first diver of the competition over defending world champion Christine Kohler of East Germany and never relinquishing it. In 1978, she captured the bronze medal at the World Aquatics Championsjops, but injuries forced her to retire from competition. She later did television commentary on diving events.
