As a defensive end Willie Harper earned All-American honors at Nebraska in 1971 and 1972 while playing on two national championship teams. He was selected in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Harper played eleven years for the Niners, winning a Super Bowl ring in 1981, before finishing his career with the New Jersey Generals and Houston Gamblers of the USFL.
