1981 Boston and New York Marathon Champion
Roe was ranked number one in the world in 1981 when she won both the Boston and New York Marathons. Her 2:25:29 in New York established the world's best time later equalled by Grete Waitz and broken by Joan Benoit in Boston in 1983. Injuries prevented her career from continuing, she never competed in the World Championships or Olympic Games.
