Winner of Six World Cup Races

In a career that lasted from 1969 to '81, Neureuther was a slalom specialist who won six races, and finished second in the overall slalom standings in 1973 & '74 and third in 1979 & '80. At the 1972 Olympics, he finished 11th in the slalom and failed to finish the giant slalom. In 1976, he finished fifth in the slalom and 30th in the giant slalom and finished his Olympic career with a fifth in slalom in 1980. His wife, Rosi Mittermaier, won two gold medals at the 1976 Olympics and their son Christian currently skis on the World Cup curcuit.
