Baylor played 19 seasons in the majors with seven different teams. In 1979, he had his best season with the California Angels, garnering his only All-Star appearance, leading the Angels to the American League West Division title and being voted the American League M.V.P. That season he led the American League with 120 runs scored and 139 R.B.I. He played in three World Series, in the least three years of his career, with three different teams: the 1986 Boston Red Sox, 1987 Minnesota Twins and 1988 Oakland Athletics. He finished his career with a .260 batting average, 338 home runs, 1,276 R.B.I. and 285 stolen bases. Baylor later managed the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs.
