Burton won 17 titles on the P.B.A. Tour and has earned $763,782. He won his first title in Louisville, Kentucky in 1964. He was the 1970 P.B.A. Player of the Year, leading the tour in average. Burton won major titles at the 1976 A.B.C. Masters and the 1978 B.P.A.A. U.S. Open. Both Burton and his father are members of the U.S.B.C. Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the P.B.A. Hall of Fame. In 1975, Burton became the color analyst on ABC's Saturday afternoon telecast, The Pro Bowler's Tour, working with Chris Schenkel. Burton remained working for ABC until 1997.
