The Superstars was a television sports
competition that was very popular in the 1970's and still continues to this
day. Superstars competitions involved the great athletes from around the world
in sports other than their own. Its success led to other "trash
sports" such as the World's Strongest Man, Battle of the Network Stars and
Challenge of the Sexes.
NEWS:
I have finished updating through 1978 and trying to fix all the links since geocities shut down. I have new information on Women's Superstars from 1975-'82, so those parts of the site are being updated. I am always looking for more information. Special thanks to Clay Parker for all of his help in gathering long forgotten information.
UPDATE:
I am adding weekly editorials, articles and perhaps interviews to a new section. Check it out here - latest article "Who Is the Greatest Superstar?" 12/14/09.
Let's get Superstars back on ESPN Clasic. Click on this link and fill out a form to request Superstars on ESPN Classic. If they get enough requests, maybe they'll dig some of the old events out of the mothballs.
On the following pages, you will be able
to find results of many of the competitions over the years, and more
information will be added in the future. Anyone who can help me by providing
information that I may be missing, especially of competitions in foreign
countries, please email me. Also send me a note if you encounter a broken
link of misinformation. If anyone has any videotapes of competitions from 1983 or earlier (or the 1990 finals), I would love to get a hold of a copy. I will make a DVD copy and return you the DVD and VHS.
