Campbell won the 1977 Heisman Trophy while at the University of Texas and was the first pick overall in the 1978 N.F.L. draft by the Houston Oilers. In his rookie season, Campbell won the Rookie of the Year and also captured the first of three consecuitve seasons in which he led the N.F.L. in rushing and also won the Offensive Player of the Year. In 1979, Campbell won the M.V.P. award and in 1980, rushed for a career high 1,934 yards. Campbell appeared in five Pro Bowls (1978-'81 & '83) in seven seasons with the Oilers, he finished his career playing two seasons for the New Orleans Saints. Campbell finished his career with 9,407 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns. He inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
