1973 Heisman Trophy Winner

Cappelletti won the Heisman Trophy in 1973 for Penn State where the running back ran for 1,522 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was the eleventh overall pick in the 1974 N.F.L. draft by the Los Angeles Rams, but his professional career never matched his collegiate success. He played for the Rams until 1978 and then 1980-'83 for the San Diego Chargers. Cappelletti was profiled in the TV movie "Something For Joey" about his younger brother's battle with leiukemia which he succumbed to in 1976. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
