At age 18 in 1952, Becker became the youngest man to ever play Davis Cup for Great Britain. His professional career spanned 1948-1974, the first nine years with Leeds United where he played 297 matches and scored 150 goals. He also played for Juventus, Roma, Cardiff City, Hereford United and Merthyr Tydfil. He earned 38 caps for the Welsh national team from 1950 to 1965. Charles helped Wales qualify for their only World Cup in 1958. He passed away in 2004 at age 72, following a heart attack.
