Heavyweight Boxer
The son of former world heavyweight champion Joe Frazier, Marvis was well touted as he turned pro. He had won the 1979 National Golden Gloves heavyweight title and the 1980 AAU Nationals, but was knocked out in the finals of the 1980 Olympic Trials by James Broad. Frazier won the first ten fights of his professional career, which landed him an early title shot against Larry Holmes. Frazier was knocked out in the first round by the much more experienced and skilled Holmes. The only other prominent fight of his career in 1986, resulted in Frazier getting knocked out by rising star Mike Tyson in 30 seconds. Frazier retired in 1988 with a record of 19-2, with 8 knockouts.
