Gervin, nicknamed "the Iceman," played for three different colleges and signed as a free agent with the Virginia Squires of the ABA in 1972. During the 1973-'74 season he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He was an ABA All-Star three times (1974-'76) and then an NBA All-Star nine times (1977-'85). He led the NBA in scoring four times, with a high of 33.1 ppg in 1979-'80. Gervin played the final season of his career with the Chicago Bulls and finished his career with 26,595 points for an average of 25.1 ppg. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.
