1980 OlympicChampion 100 Meter Breaststroke
At his first Olympics in 1976, Goodhew finished 7th in the 100 meter breaststroke and was a member of Britain's fourth place medley relay team. Goodhew won three silver medals at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, in both breaststroke events and the medley relay. That same year, he was a member of the British medley relay team that captured a bronze medal at the World Championships. At the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, Goodhew took the gold medal in the 100 meter breastroke. He also finished sixth in the 200 meter event and helped the British medley relay team capture a bronze medal.
