World Middleweight Champion

It took Hagler fifty professional fights to get his first title chance, when he fought Vito Antufermo for the World middleweight championship in November 1979. The fight was a controvesial draw, with Antufermo retaining the title. Hagler fianlly won the title by a TKO of Alan Minter in London in September 1980. Over the next six years he retained the title in twelve defenses, before losing to Sugar Ray Leonard in April 1987, which would be Hagler's last fight. He finished his career with a record of 62-3-2 with 52 knockouts.
