Two-Time European Player of the Year

Keegan played from 1968 to '84 for Scudamore United (1968-'71), Liverpool (1971-'77) Hamburg SV (1977-'80) Southampton (1980-'82) and Newcastle United (1982-'84). He played 62 times for England from 1972 to '82, scoring 21 goals. As England did not qualify for the World Cup in 1974 or '78, he only appeared in the World Cup in 1982, when his playing time was limited due to injury. He won the Ballon d'Or as the best European player in 1978 and '79. Keegan was an inaugural member of the English Football Hall of Fame.
