1976 Olympic 10000 Meter Champion
At the 1976 Olympics in Innsbruck, Kleine won gold at 10,000 meters and silver at 5,000 meters, he also finished sixth in the 1,500 meters and 18th in the 1,000 meters. He won both the 10,000 and 1,500 enroute to winning the 1976 World Allround Championships. At the 1980 Olympics, Kleine won silver at 10,000 meters and finished sixth in the 1,500. His last race was at the 1981 World Allround Championships where he won the 1,500 meters and finished tenth overall. In 1985 Kleine competed in the World Cycling Championships, finishing fifth as part of the Dutch team in the 100 Kilometer team Time Trial.
