Eight Time Gold Glove Winner
One of the great defensive centerfielders of all time, long-time Phillies broadcastes Harry Calas said of Maddox, "Two-thirds of the Earth is covered by water, the other one-third is covered by Gary Maddox." He played fifteen major league seasons with the San Francisco Giants (1972-'75) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1975-'86). Maddox won eight consecutive Gold Glove awards for his defense (1975-'82). Maddox finished his career with a .285 batting average, 1,802 hits and 248 stolen bases.
