1971 United States Figure Skating Champion
Petkevich won the 1971 United States Figure Skating Championship and the North American Champion the same year. He was a two-time Olympian, finishing sixth in 1968 and fifth in '72. His best finish at the World Figure Skating Championship was fourth in 1972, he finished fifth in '69, '70 and '71. Petkevich attended Harvard University and won a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University, earning a Ph.D. in cell biology.
