Two Time All-Star

In a 17 year major league career with the Red Sox (1950, '52-'58), Indians ('59-'61), Senators ('62-'63), Mets ('63) and Angels ('63-'67). Piersall was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1954 and '56. An outfielder, he won the Gold Glove in 1958 & '61. Piersall batted .272 for his career with 104 home runs. When he hit his 100th career homerun, Piersall rcircled the bases running backwards. The early years of his career were the subject of the movie "Fear Strikes Out" starring Tony Perkins.
