In 1978, Poplawski began his nine year career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after being aquired from the Edmonton Eskimos prior to the season. He was selected as the Most Outstanding Rookie in that first campaign and went on to win the Most Outstanding Canadian award in 1981 and 1986. A wide receiver and slotback, Poplawski was a five-time All-Star (1978, '81, '84-'86) and helped Winnipeg capture the Grey Cup in 1984. He finished his career with 549 recepetions for 8,349 yards. Poplawski was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
