1973 World Cup Champion
Sikking was the goalkeeper of the Dutch national team throughout the 1970's, earning 127 caps. As a member of the Dutch team, he finished fourth in the Olympics in 1972 and 1976. He was a star of the 1973 World Cup final, stopping a penalty shot in overtime and two penalty shot tiebreakers to lead the Dutch to their first international title. The Dutch took second to Pakistan at the 1978 World Cup. When the Netherlands joined the boycott of the 1980 Olympics, Sikking retired and burned his jersey.
