1978 Heisman Trophy Winner
Sims won the Heisman Trophy as a junior at Oklahoma in 1978 and was the runner-up for the award the following year. He drafted number one overall in 1979 by the Detroit Lions, and played with them from 1980-'84 before a knee injury ended his career. He set team records, rushing for more than 1,000 yards in his first three seasons. He was the NFL's rookie of the year in 1980 when he led the league with 16 touchdowns. Sims played in the Pro Bowl each of his first three seasons and ended his career with 5,106 yeard rushing and 42 touchdowns in just four and a half seasons. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1995.
