Smith played for seventeen seasons in the majors with six different clubs: Philadelphia Phillies (1978-'81), St. Louis Cardinals ('82-'85), Kansas City Royals ('85-'87), Atlanta Braves ('88-'92), Pittsburgh Pirates ('93) and Baltimore Orioles ('93-'94). He won World Series with three different teams in a six year span (1980, '82 & '85) and also played in the World Series with the Braves in '91 and '92. His best season was 1982 where he was selected to his only All-Star game, led the National League with 120 runs scored and finished second in MVP voting. Smith batted .288 with 1,488 hits and 370 stolen bases in his career.
