Stevens played most of his career with Mike Tredgett, winning the European Championships in men's doubles in 1976 and '78. They won the 1978 Commonwealth Games and captured the bronze medal at the 1977 World Championships. Stevens captured a European Championship silver medal in 1982 and six bronze medals between 1972 and '82.
