1976 Olympic 1500 Meter Champion
Storholt made his international debut at the 1973 World Allround Championships, finishing eighth. He would finish ninth and eighth the next two years. Storholt then shot to success by winning gold in the 1500 meters at the 1976 Olympics. He also finished 28th at 500 meters; 9th in the 5000 and 14th in the 10,000. He would finish second the Eric Heiden at the World Allround Championships in 1977, '78 and '79. He competed at the the 1980 Olympics, finishing 6th at 1500 meters and 17th at 1000 meters. Storholt concluded his international career, finishing third at the 1981 World Allround Championships.
