1977 World Lightweight Eights Champion
Topolski won a silver medal at the 1975 World Championships in the coxless fours and was a member of the British gold medal lightweight eights team at the 1977 Worlds. He coached the British team at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. Later he became an author and a BBC rowing commentator.
