1975 CELEBRITY SUPERSTARS
With the continued success of Superstars programs, ABC ordered a special of celebrities contesting Superstars. "Jaws" author Peter Benchley led after the first day of competition, but he failed to score any points on the second day, leaving a three man race between Michael Dante, Robert Duvall and Kent McCord. Dante, a former minor league baseball player set a record of 19 points in the baseball hit. Duvall led Dante by one point after nine events with McCord four points behind. When Dante incurred a penalty in the obstacle course, he was eliminated from the overall competition. Duvall took second place behind McCord in the obstacle course to earn the overall victory by one point.
