Archibald, a striker, earned 27 caps for Scotland between 1980 and 1986, including appearances in the 1982 and 1986 World Cup Finals. Domestically, he first played for Clyde in 1974 before moving to Aberdeen in 1977. His longest tenure was four seasons with Tottenham Hotspur.
