1980 and 1984 Olympic Silver Medalist
Adams captured a silver medal at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow in the 71kg class, losing to Ezio Gemba of Italy. Moving up to the 78kg class the following year, Adams captured the 1981 World Championship over Japan's Jiro Kase. Following a silver medal at the 1983 World Championships, Adams took a second Olympic silver at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, losing the final to Frank Wieneke of West Germany. He also captured WOrld Championship bronze medalis in 1979 and 1985 as well as eight medals at the European Championships, five of those were gold.
