Four Time Pro Bowl Selection
A middle linebacker out of Arkansas State, Bergey was a second round selection by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1969 A.F.L. draft. He became an A.F.L. All-Star in his rookie season. When Bergey signed a contract to play in the W.F.L., Paul Brown traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 1974 season. The W.F.L. folded and Bergey played seven seasons in Philadelphia, appearing in four Pro Bowls (1975, '77-'79) and helped the Eagles to an appearance in Super Bowl XV. Following his retirement, Bergey has worked as a broadcaster for the Eagles.
