1978 MEN'S FINAL

Water skiier Wayne Grimditch won the 1978 Superstars title the same way he had lost it in 1976, by a penalty in the obstacle course. Greg Pruitt, who was favored to win the obstacle course, came into the final event trailing Grimditch by just seven points. A win would give him the victory. He sped through the course in 23.21 seconds, the fastest of all the competitors but he incurred a penalty when he missed one of the tires, giving the title to Grimditch. Records were set by Grimdich in the two-game bowling and Bill Bergey in the golf, closest to the pin. Bergey's record still stands.
