Four-Time All-Star
Boon played 19 seasons in the majors, with the Philadelphia Phillies (1972-'81), California Angels (1982-'88) and Kansas City Royals (1989-'90). He was a four-time All-Star (1976, '78, '79, '83) and won seven Gold Gloves (1978, '79, '82, '86-'89). He was the starting catcher when the Phillies won their first World Series in 1980. His 2,225 game caught rank third all-time (just one behind Carlton Fisk for second). Boon later managed the Royals and the Cincinnati Reds. His father Ray and sons Bret and Aaron all played in the majors and each of the four was an All-Star.
