Budd gained his greatest measure of fame from participating in Superstars competitions. He earned seven caps for the national team, scoring two goals in a World Cup qualifier against the United States in December of 1976. Budd played seven seasons in the North American Soccer League with the Vancouver Whitecaps (1974-'78), Colorado Caribous ('78), Toronto Metros-Croatia/Blizzard ('78-'80) and Houston Hurricane ('80). He also played in the Major Indoor Soccer League with the Cleveland Force ('79-'80) and Baltimore Blast ('80). Budd later became a television commentator with Canadian TV. In 2008, he was found dead in his home at the age of 56.
