A career New York Ranger, Gilbert still holds team records with 406 goals and 1,021 points. He won the Bill Masterston Trophy in 1976 for dedication to hockey. Gilbert was a member of Team Canada for the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union and played in eight All-Star Games (1964, '65, '67, '69, '70, '72, '75, '77). He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.
