1964 Olympic Road Race Bronze Medalist
Godefroot captured a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics as and amateur. He won the first stage of the Tour de France in 1967, and would go on to win 10 stages in his career. In 1969, Godefroot captured the Paris-Roubaix race and in 1970 he won the green jersey at the Tour de France as the Tour's best sprinter. In 1975, he won his last stage at the Tour de France, the first time the race concluded on the Champs-Elysees.
