In December 1976, Green defeated Jean-Baptiste Piedvache for the European light welterweight championship. In June 1977, Green lost a WBC welterweight championship bout to Carlos Palomino. He lost another title bout to Sugar Ray Leonard in March 1980. Green finished his career with a 37-4 record with 29 knockouts.
