In a remarkable 26 year career from 1963-'89, John won 288 games with the White Sox, Dodgers, Yankees, Angels and A's. He was an all-star in 1968, '78-'80. John won 20 games in 1977, '79 and '80. He missed the entire 1975 season while having arm surgery which replaced the elbiow ligament in his left arm with a forearm tendon in his right arm. The surgery has become known as Tommy John survery. In 1976, he won the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award.
