Three Time All-Star

Kubek came up to the Yankees in 1957 and the shortstop won the Rookie of the Year Award. He played for the Yankees through 1965, and appeared in six World Series. Kubek was an All-Star in 1958, '59 and '61. In the 1960 World Series, Kubek was injured when a Bill Virdon ground ball took a bad hop and hit Kubek in the throat which also resulted in a neck injury that probably truncated his career. Kubek worked as a television commentator and analyst for 24 years at NBC. He was named to the broadcasters wing of the Hall of Fame in 2009.
