Lofton was drafted out of Stanford as the sixth overall pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 1978 NFL Draft. He would spend sixteen seasons in the NFL with the Packers ('78-'86), Los Angeles Raiders ('87-'88), Buffalo Bills ('89-'92), Los Angeles Rams ('93) and Philadelphia Eagles ('93). He played in eight Pro Bowls (1978, '80-'85, '91) and finished his career with 765 for 14,004 yards. At the time of his retirement, he was second all-time in career receiving yards. Lofton was a world class long jumper at Stanford, the 1979 N.C.A.A. outdoor champion Lofton was ranked 7th in the world in 1977 and 3rd in 1978, both times he was the second ranked American.
