Three Time Pro Bowl Selection
Metcalf was a third round selection out of Long Beach State by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played five seasons for the Cardinals and appeared in three Pro Bowls (1974, '75 & '77). In 1975, he set an N.F.L. record of 2,462 all purpose yards. In 1978 he left the N.F.L. to play with the Toronto Argonauts, earning an All-Star appearance in 1979. He returned to the N.F.L. for one final season with the Washington Redskins in 1981. His son Eric, played in the N.F.L. as well.
