Napier made his pro debut as a teenager with the Toronto Toros of the W.H.A. and spent the next two seasons with the Birmingham Bulls. He went on to an eleven season career in the N.H.L. with the Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars, Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres. In 1976-'77 Napier scored a career high 93 points with the Bulls and his N.H.L. best was 81 points with the Canadiens in 1981-'82. he won a Stanley Cup in 1985 with the Oilers.
