1972 Olympic Downhill Champion

Russi won the 1970 World Championship downhill in Val Gardena and took the 1972 Olympic gold in Sapporo. In 1976, he took the silver medal behind Franz Klammer. In his World Cup career, Russi won nine downhill races and one giant slalom. He was the overall downhill winner in 1971 and '72 and finished a high of fifth in the overall standings three times (1971, '72 & '77).
