1968 Olympic Bronze Medalist

Sherwood, who had ranked #2 in the world in 1967, captured the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics. He followed up with a silver at the 1969 European Championships and a gold at the 1970 Commonwealth Games and was ranked in the top 10 of the world each year between 1967 and 1970. Sherwood was eliminated in the heats of the 1972 Olympics.
