Four Time World Motor-Paced Champion
As an amateur, Stam was a world championship silver medalist in 1968 and 1969 before capturing the gold medal in 1970. After turning professional, he won the professional world championship in 1973, '74 and '77. He captured silver medals in 1972, '75 and '76 and bronze medals in 1978 and '79.
