Canadian Superstars®
Canadian Superstars were held each May from 1976 to 1980 and shown during halftime of Canadian Football League games over the course of twelve weeks. The Canadian Superstars champion qualified for the World Superstars the following year. What set Canadian Superstars apart from other countries was the large number of competitiors, usually about two dozen. This led to low overall scores, despite contesting twelve events rather than ten. The 1981 competitions was scheduled, but cancelled due to a television camera workers strike.
