Member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame
Gabriel played tight end at Syracuse University and then played in the C.F.L. with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1971-'74 and the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1975-'81. He was a eight time C.F.L. All-Star (1972, '74-'80) and the league M.V.P. in 1978, the last Canadian to win the award. Gabriel was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame the same year.
