Perez played in the majors for the Cincinnati Reds (1964-'76, '84-'86), Montreal Expos (1977-'79), Boston Red Sox (1980-'82) and Philadelphia Phillies (1983). He was a seven-time all-star (1967-'69, '74-'76), winning the M.V.P. awards in the 1967 game. Perez drove in 90 or more runs for eleven straight seasons (1967-'77). A third baseman early in his career, Perez moved to first base in 1972 and was a key part of the back-to-back world championships in 1975 and '76. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2000.
